Children Should Not Be Punished As Adults

A 4 page paper which argues that children, or young adults, should not be treated as adults in relationship to the legal system and law regarding punishment. Children are children and regardless of their crime, they are not mature enough to understand the real consequences of their actions. One argument given relates to the fact that the prison system will only further their life of crime, and therefor has proven to ineffective in deterring crime. In addition, an alternative is illustrated, whereby these violent children can be sentenced to their own institution that is not part of the average detention center, not part of the adult prison system. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
