Culturally Competent Care/Duke University Health System
A 12 page research paper that discusses issues pertaining to culturally competent care. This examination of cultural competency focuses on the Duke University health system, and considers, first of all, the various definitions proposed for “culturally competent care” as a term and how this term should be defined for the DUHS. Then, the population served by Duke is identified and described, with emphasis on the implications of the needs of this population. Having laid out the parameters for this investigation, the discussion then encompasses standards of culture care that appear to be met at the DUHS, as well as those that are not being met; the potential impact of nursing care on these standards and possible.
