The purpose/mission of the Western Carolina Center (WCC) in Morganton, North Carolina, is to enrich the lives of the mentally challenged, with particular emphasis upon confidence, security, independence, enjoyment and overall quality of life. By approaching the developmentally disabled with a positive, can-do outlook, the Center has been successful in achieving its objectives through the tremendous advancements in technology. Aspects of mobility, safety, comfort, accessibility and recreation are all addressed by means of assistive devices that improve one's progression through daily events, all too often considered second nature to the rest of society.
