Unemployment And The Great Depression

The early part of the century witnessed a financial downfall like none before or since; the United States government was well aware of its precarious economic position, realizing that the nation was on the crux of something so monumental as to affect the very essence of its livelihood as a powerful country. The years between 1929 and 1931 were about as bleak as they could be in relation to American liberalism and capitalism. The Great Depression proved to literally bring world economy to its knees, responsible for a staggering sixty percent failing of all international trade, as well as the unmanageable increase in unemployment throughout the United States.
