African American Artists during The Great Depresson.

(10pp)The Harlem Renaissance watched the flourishing of African American literature, music, dance, art and social commentary in the neighbor- hood newly transformed by the great migration of African Americans to the North during WWI. The renaissance was a time when Black Americans had a chance to demonstrate the creative and intellectual abilities that they possessed. Nightclubs, community centers, cafes, publishing houses and galleries sprang up in Harlem amongst the enormous level of energy and excitement.
